This website is here to inspire women over 40 with their fashion choices. It’s designed for all women over 40, though everyone is welcome!
I showcase outfits for women in their early 40s, 60s, and even 80s. So yes, you’ll be 40+ forever! My son once joked about changing the website’s name to 50plusstyle when I turn 50, but I always tell him it will stay 40plusstyle.
Recently, someone asked if I could feature more outfits for women in their 60s. To me, there isn’t a huge difference between dressing for 40+, 60+, or 80+. I don’t think I’ll dress much differently at 80 than I do now, except maybe choosing to cover up more, which I already do.
For example, Catherine, in her early 40s, wears timeless outfits that look good at any age. There are some differences between dressing for 20+ and 40+, which is why I focus on the 40+ age group on this site. I have some guidelines for dressing over 40 here.
In my late 40s, I choose outfits that I could wear at any age. Picking a unique top can keep your look fresh. At 40+, our style becomes more sophisticated and less revealing, focusing on unique style rather than just trends. We also want clothes that are comfortable, stylish, and practical, which will guide my style as I age.
Annette, in her 50s, blends classic and modern elements in her outfits, which would look good at any age. I don’t aim to look younger with my style but don’t want my style to age either. I’ll keep adding trendy pieces and wearing my favorite styles, like booties with skirts.
Greetje, in her 60s, combines classic and modern looks that work for any age. Keeping your style fresh can prevent you from looking ‘older.’ It’s easy to focus only on comfort as you age, but adding effort into styling, maintaining body strength, and grooming makes a big difference.
Judith, in her 70s, is a great example of wearing timeless clothes. She shows how little effort can make a big impact. You can wear jeans, a cashmere top, and stylish shoes at any age and look chic. It’s about finding the right balance, proportion, and fit.
Dorrie from Senior Style Bible, in her 80s, shows that jeans can look just as good at 80+ as they do at 40+. There are many more examples of women dressing agelessly in my style interviews. You can find even more inspiration in the 40+ community.
What do you think? Is there a big difference between dressing at 45 and 75?
