Last week, I shared my winter capsule wardrobe with you, which included a lot of pastel colors. I also talked about bulky sweaters, and some of you were worried that they might be too bulky. Today, I’m going to show you how I style my bulky pastel peach sweater!
I bought this bulky peach sweater to pair with a faux leather skirt. Even though I usually think bulky sweaters look best with straight or pencil skirts, I couldn’t resist this fit-and-flare skirt with its asymmetric twist. Since the skirt is fitted at the top, I think the bulkiness of the sweater still works well.
Sure, bulky sweaters do add some bulk, but that’s just part of their charm. If you pair them with fitted bottoms, you can maintain a flattering silhouette. Adding a scarf also helps break up the bulk. I love wearing a silk scarf because it adds color and feels luxurious. Thanks again for the beautiful gift, Suzanne!
One advantage of a thick, bulky sweater is that you often don’t need a coat. With trendy blanket scarves available, you can simply drape one over your outfit on milder days. I also enjoy pairing this sweater with my cream boyfriend jeans, which I added to my winter wardrobe because I love wearing white in winter. The corduroy fabric and the relaxed fit make them perfect for the colder months.
I also think the sweater looks great with my cream skinny jeans. This combination is simple, comfortable, and practical. Plus, it looks lovely with a blanket scarf! Although I can wear the sweater loose over my pants, I prefer the semi-tucked look because it creates a more balanced silhouette.
To show the difference, here are some examples of the bulky sweater versus a fitted pink one. While the comparison isn’t completely fair due to different poses, you can see that the bulky sweater does add some extra volume. Do I still like it? Absolutely! I think it looks great with the skirt and, if I wanted to elevate the look, I would pair it with tighter-fitting booties or heels.
So, what do you think? Do you like the bulky sweater, or do you prefer a fitted look? Will you wear a bulky sweater this winter?
